This is a great example of early efforts--- a simple block quilt from WAY back in the late 1990s, to my friend Candice C. What's fun about this blast from the past for me is seeing some of the fabric I had in my collection (yes, I still remember that beige cat panel) as well as some of my early patch experiments (I see a log cabin and a cottage block in this pic!). But perhaps most importantly, that it is being used. How wonderful to see some of these early pieces still be enjoyed so many years later!
In her words, along with these pics: "University was not always a great time for me, but I met Amy Bartlett in university and that was a good thing. After being her roommate for a summer she gave me one of her homemade quilts. I didn't understand or realize then how much I would use it and appreciate it. Shortly after getting the quilt I bought myself a digital piano and it needed a cover. What a gift I have carried the two around inseparably for the last like 15 years. I've never used anything else to cover my piano. It also means that it's the main focal point in my living room and all colour choices need to be made around it. 3 years ago I got my cats, my babies, and Addy loves to sleep on the quilt, on the piano. SO I have all my precious things together in one spot."
Thanks for sharing Candice! (PS: you can check out her blog here)
